Prep the Damage Surface Area

The area to be repaired should be brushed or blown clean, removing all loose aggregate, sand or water. These items will act as an insulator and not let the heat penetrate the surface evenly.

Heat the Damage Area

The infrared heater is positioned over the damaged asphalt for between 7-10 minutes. During this process, the old asphalt surface is heated with infrared rays to a temperature over 300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Rake the Heated Asphalt

Once the pavement is sufficiently softened, the heater is removed. A steel rake is used to cut a square around the damage, leaving at least 6" of the heated surface undisturbed. The rake is then used to scarify the asphalt inside of the square area, recycling the existing asphalt.

Adding of Rejuvenator and Fresh Asphalt

A "astatine" rejuvenator is sprayed onto this existing asphalt to replace the light oils which have oxidized out with age. Virgin asphalt is discharged from the asphalt reclaimer and added to the repair to bring the area up to grade.

Grading & Compacting of the new Asphalt Patch

After luting the seams and creating the correct grade on the new asphalt patch, we then take our vibrator and compact the new surface starting with the edges of the area ensuring a correct blend/bond of the old surface and the new.
